No Room at the Inn
No Room at the Inn
“And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger because there was no place for them in the inn.” Luke 2:7
When I think of the movie, The Grinch my thoughts wander to Max the dog.
Max, to me, is a representation of Jesus. I know this may sound unusual. Yet, think about it, no matter how the Grinch treats him, Max loves him unconditionally.
Just like Jesus loves us unconditionally. The world treats Jesus with indifference, hatred, distaste, or flat-out ignores Him. Truthfully, even we, His children at times, treat Him the same way as the world. Yet, He still loves us all unconditionally.
Luke 2 states, that even at the birth of our Savior ‘there was no room for him in the inn.' Have our hearts become crowded with all the things of the world this holiday season? Is there no room in our ‘inn’ for the One and Only King? Are we running on empty because our calendars our jam jam-packed with no room to breathe?
I encourage you to stop and be willing to say, “Thanks, but I am not adding any more events to my Christmas season this year. I want to spend some time with the One who chose to be born as a babe; a babe born in a manger because there was no room in the inn for Him.” I want to take the time to remember and be grateful that IT WAS ALL BECAUSE HE LOVED ME UNCONDITONALLY.
Dear God, may we have room in our ‘inn’ for Jesus. Thank you for loving us unconditionally and may we remember the true reason behind the Christmas season. Amen
