Believe
Believe!
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
“And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe.” 1 Thessalonians 2:13
“And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Hebrews 11:6
“Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!” Luke 1:45
In a world of confusion and change, it is often difficult to know what to believe or what not to believe. God’s Word, the Bible, is not confusing and does not change. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the Bible is the best-selling book of all time with an estimated 5 billion copies sold. It is the unchanging nature of God, written in His Word, that makes the Bible the single source of truth, strengthening our belief throughout the ages. Advent is the perfect opportunity to personally discover or renew your faith in the real reason for the season.
This is the season, we celebrate the birth of a savior who chose us to be His children. His name will be called Jesus as it is foretold in Matthew 1:20-21: “But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” There is freedom in knowing that Jesus lived, died, and rose again so that all who believe can have everlasting life. You and your loved ones have an opportunity to know him personally, to find the truth of His living Word, and have great hope for the future. Try it for yourself, draw nearer to Him, and watch Him draw nearer to you.
Dear Heavenly Father, what an amazing gift we have in You. You have given us promises that stand true through the test of time. The gift of everlasting life is readily available to us if we believe. Thank you for sending your one and only son to earth. Fill us with your love, faith, understanding, and a tremendous thirst for your Word so we can live a life of joy in a world that is temporary. Help us to believe. In Jesus' Name, I pray, Amen.
