This summer we want to take the time to serve our community. We have put together a list of a lot of great opportunities to serve where we will be helping our local ministry partners and friends. Check out the opportunities below and then click sign-up to join one of the serving opportunities. 

  • Zoe Freedom Center - SF Community Partner, Mobile Harm Reduction Unit Kick-off : Saturday, June 18
    Family friendly; meet downtown to share info/flyers about new MHRU van & services.
  • Smith Station School project : date TBD
    Assist with preparing for back to school
  • Hub of Hope - SF Community Partner : Mon - Thurs 7a-11a, 8a-12p, 9a-1p, 10a-2p, *evening opportunities are available as needed
    Help fight food insecurity by helping other people eat.
  • Zoe Freedom Center - SF Community Partner, 5K To End Overdose : Saturday, August 27
    Run/Walk participants; event workers
  • Zoe Freedom Center - SF Community Partner, Tee Up Fore Freedom : Saturday, October 8
Golfers; event workers
  • Zoe Freedom Center - SF Community Partner, Hour of Prayer : First Thursday, each month, Noon - 1pm
    We envision a world where anyone who seeks freedom from addiction would find it, realize their God-given purposes, and lead productive, fulfilling lives.

  • Thurman Brisben Center - SF Community Partner, Goods  Donation : Donate to Immediate Needs list — many items that you can pick up when shopping.
    Donations of goods are accepted Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
  • Thurman Brisben Center - SF Community Partner, Meal Host : select open date from their website calendar.
    Plan, purchase, prepare and serve dinner, lunch or breakfasts, at Brisben.
  • Thurman Brisben Center - SF Community Partner, Volunteer Driver : coordinate with Brisben Center
    Have a car and 3 to 4 hours of volunteer time once a week? You can make a difference by driving residents to the doctor, the pharmacy, job interview, or government office. 
  • Red Cross Blood Drive - Resurrection Lutheran Church   6170 Plank Rd Fredericksburg, VA : Wednesdays 1:00-7:00pm
    Every day, blood donors help patients of all ages: accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer. In fact, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood.
  • Make a Jared Box for area hospitals : June - August
    The mission of the Jared Box Project is to entertain and put a smile on the faces of children in the hospital - boxes filled with the gift of play.
  • Project 516 : 2nd Saturday Serve July

  • Habitat for Humanity Restore : open dates
    Support the ReStore in a range of areas such as customer service, minor repairs and maintenance, receiving donations, cleaning and stocking the sales floor, and office support.
  • Habitat for Humanity : open dates
     Habitat for Humanity helps families build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. Homeownership is more than the American dream - it’s a reliable way to build generational wealth and improve an entire family’s future.
  • Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center : 4 hrs per week commitment
    There are many different types of volunteer opportunities available at Spotsylvania Regional. Further discussion of these roles and how they match your interests will be done at the interview.
  • Bragg Hill Family Life Center : Volunteers needed - "Starkids" Summer Camp July 8-Aug 2 ; Volunteers needed - Summer Basketball Tournament July 13-Aug 24
    Bragg Hill Family Life Center’s mission is to address the needs of at-risk youth and economically underprivileged families and individuals.
  • Chancellor Village Retirement Community : open dates
    Volunteers needed to visit and join in activities with the elderly residents.
  • Fredericksburg Area Food Bank : open dates
    Volunteers needed to stock shelves, assist in warehouse, enter data and assist with mailings.
  • Wilburn Gardens : open dates
    Volunteers needed to assist with Bingo, ice cream socials and Adopt-A Grandparent Program
  • Mary Washington Healthcare : open dates
    Baby hats - knitted or crocheted with baby-weight cotton or acrylic yarn (pattern available by request)

    Lap blankets: washable and cozy - knit, crochet, quilted or fleece - no wool; come from smoke and pet-free environment.
