Prayer Prompts – Week 3: Praying for our Nation
Monday: 11/24 - Adoration (Praise): Adoration centers our hearts on the character of God before we talk about our circumstances. It’s worship through words.
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He chose for His inheritance.” - Psalm 33:12
Give praise for God's sovereignty and favor over a people who acknowledge Him.
Tuesday: 11/25 - Confession: Confession is more than admitting sin; it’s agreeing with God that His way is better and asking Him to realign your heart.
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” - 2 Chronicles 7:14
Confess to God areas where we as a nation have strayed—whether in justice, compassion, truth, or stewardship—and ask for a spirit of repentance and renewal.
Wednesday: 11/26 - Intercession: This is prayer that turns the spotlight off yourself and lifts up someone else —it’s love in prayer form.
“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.” - 1 Timothy 2:1–2
Pray that our Nation’s leaders, teachers, preachers, and influencers would come to know God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and walk in His truth. Ask that every person in our land be drawn into a genuine relationship with Christ, so that lives marked by godliness and grace would shape the character of our Nation.
Thursday: 11/27 – Thanksgiving: It’s not just saying thank you for what God’s done—it’s recognizing His steady faithfulness along the way.
“Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name.”
Take action to lead by example in expressing gratitude. Invite your family, church, and the organizations you are a part of to share testimonies of God’s faithfulness. Let Thanksgiving become a visible and contagious act of worship.
Friday: 11/28 - Surrender/Consecration: This prayer is the exhale—the moment you stop fighting for control and simply hand God the keys.
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” - 1 Peter 2:9
Pray with humility and hope, asking God to guide those in authority with righteousness and compassion. As we intercede, we consecrate our nation to His purposes, trusting that peace and holiness will flourish when we yield to His leadership.
Saturday 11/29 – Supplication (Petition): But it’s deeper than a wish list; it’s an honest, faith-filled conversation with the One who can actually do something about it. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” - Philippians 4:6
Lift up our Nation’s deepest needs—not with fear, but with faith. Ask God to intervene in areas of division, injustice, and despair. Present every concern with thanksgiving, trusting that He hears and responds.
Sunday 11/30 - Sabbath Rest: Rest is required to stay spiritually alert and spiritually effective.
“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God…” - Exodus 20:8–10
Pray that our Nation would rediscover the gift of Sabbath—not just as a day off, but as a holy pause. Ask God to awaken hearts to the truth that spiritual alertness and effectiveness begin with stillness before Him.
