“And the angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.’” Luke 1:28 (ESV)
Although Mary found favor with God, she had to face further struggles. Struggles such as no room being available to deliver baby Jesus, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Moreover, the heart-breaker was the very day her own Son, whom she loved and followed, would be rejected and unjustly murdered. Yet through it all, Mary believed and lived as though she remained the favored one despite the odds. Wholeheartedly, I am certain that if we were to ask Mary if she would be willing to do it all over again, she would give us a resounding YES! Wow! What an honor, to be the Mother of Jesus-the Savior of the World, and what an even greater honor to be a “favored one” who finds “favor with God” through it all, despite the odds! May we be encouraged to remember God’s divine purpose, for today’s events may not be understood until days, weeks, months, or perhaps years later…Regardless of the timeframe, remain faithful and faith-filled “favored one.”
Points to Ponder:
As a “favored one,” are you thankful for God’s grace on a regular-basis, especially during this busy time of the season? How about during the not-so-good times of the year? Why or why not?
Heavenly Father, You have been so good to me, and I want to thank You for Your amazing gift of grace-acceptance into Your loving family. Help me remain faithful as a “favored one” and to share this gift with those I know and do not know for I am not ashamed…In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
