The Take Away

Pastor Kelly Padgett
“When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. 11 And going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him.” Matthew 2:10-11(ESV)
The wise men found more than they bargained for when they met Jesus. I am sure they had many different expectations and probably some apprehension about finding this King, but the Bible says they worshipped. That is the key to all of this as they waited patiently for the star to rise in the sky and direct them. They endured the hardship of the journey not sure of their destination. They met some people that wanted nothing more than to use them for bad purposes. They brought gifts that might have been somewhat confusing for everyone who saw them, and they found Jesus. However, after meeting Jesus, all they could do was worship because they had possibly found that after all of this, they were the ones who were receiving the gift. This is what meeting Jesus does; it brings the entire journey into perspective and makes it worthwhile.

Points to Ponder:

So what is your take away going to be from this season? Will we once again just be glad we survived and try to pay off the debts both monetary and personal we have incurred, or will we walk away having once again discovered a savior who has given us a gift with eternal benefit?

Let’s Pray:

Lord this season is more than just a holiday; it is a chance to discover You anew. Please don’t let me get lost in the business of the season and continually focus on You…In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
