“And Mary said, ‘Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.’ And the angel departed from her.” Luke 1:38 (ESV)

Mary was a young virgin girl, believed to be around the ages of 12 and 14 when she was engaged to be married. She was planning a wedding when she received a rather unexpected message from the angel Gabriel. A message that was completely unheard of…that is until now. Yet, when Mary received the message that she would be the Mother of Jesus, she willingly accepted the call. Scripture tells us that she sought to honor God’s call with tremendous belief and full obedience. In no way did Mary understand everything, nor was she aware of all there was to come. Yet she decided to wholeheartedly trust the very heart of God. Perhaps today, you are focused on your plans for this time of the season, just as Mary was focused on preparations to marry. Yet, she willingly made a choice to press the pause button on her plans and play the track that involved God’s Plan, His Call, His Will, and His Way for her life.

Points to Ponder:

Would you have responded in a way like that of Mary if you were in her position? Have you been willing to press the pause button on your personal plans and play the track with God’s plan or call for you…especially once you already have your plans in motion? Why or Why Not?

Let’s Pray:

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your love and Your precious gift-JESUS. With a willing heart, I ask that You would fully equip and prepare me now to trust Your heart, especially in regards to Your call or plans in and over my life. May I become a fit and favored vessel for Your Glory as you make known Your Will for me. I thank You and praise You in advance…In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
