Lent Day 27

“Better is one day in your courts, than a thousand elsewhere.”

Did you sing those words or is that only me? Earlier this year, while searching for a verse to go with My One Word (for the year), this song lyric kept repeating over and over in my head. I knew it came from a verse and even knew it was a Psalm but couldn’t remember which one.

The question became, where in the Bible it is located. Have you ever read through the whole bible in a year or even a portion of scripture but then forgotten it? Don’t worry, we have all been there. Once I found the verse it became part of my computer background to help me remember where it is located.

However, it wasn’t until today that I decided to reread the whole of Psalm 84.

Psalm 84 is only 12 verses, but they are hope-filled, promise-filled verses.

In these verses we see:

  • The lovely dwelling place of God (verse 2)
  • How God provides for even the sparrow and the swallow (verse 3)
  • Those who dwell in God’s house are blessed (verse 4)
  • Those whose strength is in God are blessed (verse 5)
  • God bestows favor and honor (verse 11)
  • How the one who trusts in God is blessed (verse 12)

Lord, we thank You for Your Word. May we continue to journey, not only to the cross this Easter but to the glory of the resurrection. Let us live with You past the cross without forgetting the sacrifice made at the cross for us. In Jesus Name, Amen
