Lent Day 18

“Now let your unfailing love comfort me, just as you promised me, your servant.
Surround me with your tender mercies so I may live, for your instructions are my delight.”
-Psalm 119:76-77

Sometimes we just need a hug. Sometimes we need a hug from our Heavenly Father. In the Message translation, verse 76 reads “Oh, love me - and right now! - hold me tight, just the way you promised.”

I experienced a couple of things this week that injured my confidence. One situation was legitimately a failed opportunity on my part. The other situation, however, was something that the enemy twisted and blew out of proportion so that I would feel bad about myself and erode my confidence in my ministry calling.

I needed a hug from God. I received that hug through the comfort and encouragement of His Word. Delighting in His Word always puts things in their proper perspective. The numerous promises that His love is unfailing holds me up in times, like this week, when I find myself less than lovable.

Do you need a hug from God today? You can find that hug in the promises of God.

Der Heavenly Father, thank You that You have promised to love me without fail, even when I feel like a failure.  Continue to remind me that Your tender mercies surround me every day. In Jesus name, Amen.
