Lent Day 13
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
-2 Corinthians 12:9
Strong people can make it through anything thrown our way...right?
We have all heard these sayings:
· “God helps the ones who help themselves”
· “Get it right or get left behind”
· “God won’t give us more than we can handle”
First, can we call them what they really are? LIES!!! The sad part is we live with them as if they were truths. When did this happen? I propose a tiny step at a time. Half-truths, which are whole lies begin, begin the descent to belief in these statements. Because if it had been a giant step, we would have rejected them from the get-go.
As I walk with God, the promise I want to keep in the forefront of my mind is “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
Paul spoke those words. Yeah, that Paul, the guy who was shipwrecked, beaten, and left for dead, plus a host of other things. All while consistently sharing Jesus.
Why do we even walk around ‘being strong’ and saying “everything is fine.”
I have learned in my own circumstances; it is not about whether I am fine. It is in acknowledging that “His grace is sufficient and His power is made perfect in weakness.” It required me to get real on the days when things are NOT FINE, and boast, because “His grace is sufficient.” I can go on.
As we look at the promises of God during this Lenten season, may you through away the lies and hold tightly to His Truth.
Lord, Thank you that I can boldly claim Your grace is sufficient. Even on the days, when things are not fine. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
